Chicago Photographer + Kelly Ry Photography bio picture

Welcome, welcome!

Whether it's my home or my blog, I love visitors.  The ones that come to my home to visit add something new and interesting to the mix of daily life. But then they leave again, forcing me to return to daily life without their smiles and laughter.  The great thing about blog visitors is that they can come again and again, and need never leave.

Photographer Vincent Versace said, "We came to photography because the world moves us in such a way that we want to photograph what we see so others can be moved the way we were."  And so it was for me.  Despite my deplorable skills with a canvas and paints, I found the joy of creativity with a camera.

So welcome.  Make yourself at home.  Enjoy the people in love, the gorgeous details, and adorable families.  I'd love to hear from you.

PS. And as much as I love having visitors, I love being a visitor!  Although based in Chicago, IL I have had the pleasure traveling around the world to capture weddings and families, and I would love to come visit you.  Live across the country (or continent) or planning a destination wedding?  I'm a wonderful guest.  And I bring my camera.

Ah, the joys of parenthood, kiddos laying all over you. But…if we just crop them out,...

Families: The Barkleys ~ Los Angeles Family Photographer

It was hard. So very, very hard. One of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. In my life. (Ok, so that’s an exaggeration, but work with me here.)  Trust me, it was so very, very hard. Some how, some way though, I managed to choose a small selection of photos from this last...

Families: The Allchins ~ Los Angeles Family Photographer

One of the most important things to me when planning a family session is that it be representative of the family, that it document their family interacting and doing something they love to do together.  When I found out this next family loves their weekly trip to the local Farmer’s Market, there was no question...

Families: Jenny & Allen ~ Los Angeles Family Photographer

There are certain couples that require a little prompting to snuggle a little closer in front of the camera. Even the most in-love couple isn’t always comfortable showing that love when a big lens is pointed in their faces. But not this next couple! They needed absolutely no prompting whatsoever to show me exactly how...
