They say that the over time, wedding photographers attract clients whose style matches their own, in both personality of the couple and wedding day style.  Natalia & Todd are a perfect example of that.  Our early Sunday morning engagement shoot was not the ideal time for any of us (early! Sunday! hot & humid! early!) but they were so much fun to tag along after as we roamed the city, starting in their neighborhood of Lincoln Park, on the train to downtown, and roaming the streets around the Art Institute and State Street.  Somehow they managed to look fantastic the entire time, despite the early (!), the heat & humidity (!), and all that walking.  (Special props go to Natalia for rocking it all out in fabulous shoes. She’s assured me her wedding day shoes are no less fabulous. Can’t wait!)

Betsy and Kevin were one of the first couples to book me for the 2010 wedding season, so it’s safe to say that I’ve been looking forward to their wedding day for A. LONG. TIME, but especially following their engagement session.  It is also safe to say that it was everything and more than I could have anticipated.  The bride was stunning (see below!) and the groom oh-so-handsome (see below!), but it is their fun relationship that just makes me smile and was such a pleasure to document throughout the day.

A more complete blog post of this stunning couple’s recent wedding to come in the next few days but here’s one to kick things off.

When observing Hannah & Matt together, it is clear they have had years to hone their relationship into one that is calm and strong, and yet still playful, as seen on both their wedding day and when documenting their engagement.  They fit together in that way that doesn’t require words, they just are who they are together. And it’s a joy to capture.  Their wedding last Saturday at Loyola University was a sweet affair with only their closest family and friends.  The weather for their ceremony overlooking Lake Michigan was perfect, and the grounds of the university were stunning, offering so much eye candy I was like a child who feasted on the gorgeousness as we walked around to capture portraits of the new bride & groom.

Although I greatly enjoy photographing engaged couples in the months before they marry, there is something special about capturing a couple who has been married for some time.  In the case of Courtney & Aimee, it has been 10 years since they promised forever and from what I observed, their relationship is like a wine that has matured, is mellow and comfortable, with enough spice to keep things interesting.  I absolutely loved clicking away without directing them, thrilled to capture those in-between-moments that say everything there is to say, all without words.

Courtney has already moved to Houston for work and Aimee is wrapping things up here in Chicago before she joins him in the Lone Star state.  It was only fitting to capture a last glimpse of the city where they lived these past 10 years.  Here’s wishing them many decades more.
