Chicago Photographer + Kelly Ry Photography bio picture

Welcome, welcome!

Whether it's my home or my blog, I love visitors.  The ones that come to my home to visit add something new and interesting to the mix of daily life. But then they leave again, forcing me to return to daily life without their smiles and laughter.  The great thing about blog visitors is that they can come again and again, and need never leave.

Photographer Vincent Versace said, "We came to photography because the world moves us in such a way that we want to photograph what we see so others can be moved the way we were."  And so it was for me.  Despite my deplorable skills with a canvas and paints, I found the joy of creativity with a camera.

So welcome.  Make yourself at home.  Enjoy the people in love, the gorgeous details, and adorable families.  I'd love to hear from you.

PS. And as much as I love having visitors, I love being a visitor!  Although based in Chicago, IL I have had the pleasure traveling around the world to capture weddings and families, and I would love to come visit you.  Live across the country (or continent) or planning a destination wedding?  I'm a wonderful guest.  And I bring my camera.

Siblings: Liz & Mike | Chicago Family Photographer

I don’t know about you, but it’s almost always impossible to figure out what to give my parents for their birthdays or other gift-giving occasions (read: Father’s Day is coming up – get thinking!).   I’m learning that I am not alone in this plight; it seems to be a universal problem.  Last fall my friend Liz and her brother had the same problem when deciding what to get their father for his upcoming birthday until she remembered that the photos he displayed in his office were of his children from ten+ years ago with all the fabulosity that came with pictures from the mid-90′s.  And so the idea for a photoshoot with Liz & Mike was born.

Being new to Chicago and the Midwest, I was thrilled when Liz suggested we meet her brother in Lake Geneva, WI.  In particular, I ADORE fall so the idea of a lake and trees in all their fall brilliance was right up my alley.  As the youngest of three daughters, I always wished I had a brother so I find the interactions between brothers & sisters fascinating, and Liz and Mike did not disappoint.  I love how a couple of these photos reveal the difference in their personalities.  Mike just about rolled his eyes out of their sockets with mine & Liz’s attempts to get him to be silly.
